In 1997, she was
officially recognized
by the president
of the region of
Muenster as being
“culturally valuable”.

Jessica Burri

was born in the USA and
continued her studies after graduating
from the Eastman School of Music at the
Music Conservatory in Cologne, Germany.
She has been performing for years as a
singer in Germany and in other European
countries with an extremely varied program
of opera roles and concert repertoire as
well as her own compositions. She creates
special programs with other artists for
all kinds of occasions. A particularly
outstanding event was her performance
for King Carl Gustav and Queen
Silvia of Sweden.

The Hammered Dulcimer

She has a particular love for
the hammered dulcimer, a historical
stringed instrument originally from
England. It can be plucked, as zithers are,
or struck with delicate hammers. The unusual
richness of overtones create a sound spectrum
which fascinates and enchants the listeners.
She is presumably the only classical singer
who accompanies herself on the dulcimer.
